God can deliver us from two kinds of evil. He can deliver us from thoughts and circumstances that propel us towards something which is not good for us before we actually land into troubles. He can also deliver us from the perilous situations even after we fall into them. He can either take us away from such crisis or enable us to face it with confidence and courage. He can make the problems as part of our learning process because even pains have some purpose for those who love Him.
When we say this prayer, we need to do a small introspection and check whether we are rooted in the love of God which alone can make us competent enough to utter this prayer. Only the certainty of our relationship with God, who is our Father, can give us the right and confidence to make this daring appeal for help. While what we do is not in line with His will and purpose, we can not expect this plea to elicit a favorable response from God. First, we need to forcibly pluck ourselves from the baneful environment which may have catapulted us into the mire into which we have fallen. When we make a feeble decision within ourselves and decide to work out a little, God in His everlasting mercy lifts us from the stifling and suffocating landing in which we are stuck.
God honours our decisions and desires. A small effort from our part draws to us His magnificent and unfailing help and we will be delivered. He delivers us from circumstances that lead us to problems and also delivers us from actual difficulties.
What an amazing and awesome God! Those who have tasted His power of deliverance can never remain quiet. Of course, thanksgiving is thanks living.
