Jesus described the nature of the kingdom of God through many parables. Kingdom of God signifies predominance of God’s will in our life. It denotes our priority also. We are expected to give importance to kingdom of God. As we enter a New Year, let us seek the privilege of being under the rule of God. May the New Year bring blessings into our life as we earnestly seek to operate in His kingdom. We are in the Kingdom of God when we lead a life of obedience to Him. This involves a choice.

In Matthew 13:44 we read that the Kingdom of God is like a treasure hidden in the field. The person who becomes aware of the available treasure sells all that he has and buys the field. In the course of our life we stumble upon the truth that there is abundant life in Christ. After we attain this revelation we set aside all our commitments and choose to please Him alone. In Matthew 13; 45,46 we read about a merchant who sold all that he had to buy a pearl of great value.

Through God’s grace we realize the worth of a life lived in close intimacy with God. Hence salvation is God’s immense grace. Discovering something that is very precious in life is God- orchestrated accident. If we discover that life lived with God is the most precious treasure we are really blessed. This awareness must lead a person to make the right decision and the right choice.

May God help us to make the right choices in life and follow them tenaciously though-out this New Year.
